Saudi Arabia formally opens Neom Sindalah Island

Saudi Arabia’s Neom has formally opened the Sindalah Island destination, making it the first region in Neom to open to the public.

The opening was announced in a statement published by Saudi Press Agency on 27 October.

With an area of about 840,000 square metres, Sindalah Island is situated 5 kilometres from the mainland in the Red Sea. The island is designed as an ultra-luxury destination and is the first group of islands to be developed at Neom.

It features three hotels developed under two brands, Marriott and Four Seasons, with 413 keys, 88 villas and 333 serviced apartments.

Sindalah Island also features an 86-berth marina for yachts up to 50 metres and 75 offshore buoys for superyachts up to 180 metres.

Earlier in October, MEED exclusively reported that Neom planned to open the Sindalah Island destination by the end of the month.

In December 2022, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud officially launched the Sindalah Island project at Neom.

The development aims to boost the growth of Saudi Arabia’s tourism industry and is expected to create 3,500 jobs for the tourism, hospitality and leisure sector.
